Out and about.

Today has been an active day but a perfect day for adventuring - occasionally sunny, quite windy, not too hot, not too cold, and no rain.

I began with a run round the village, stopping for a chat with a friend, putting the world to rights and agreeing that we were lucky to have been born when we were. We had a world of opportunities, apparently increasing tolerance, and some excellent music.

The world seems to have grown meaner and even the music is not as good as it once was, in our opinion anyway!

But still the sun was shining, the heather is beginning to turn the hills purple and nature’s bounty is looking very colourful.

Later in the morning, my brother-in-law came over, and my daughter of some of her offspring came along too and off we went on a chippy hike. We admired the flowers en route.

Phil turned back half way there as we were expecting a parcel, a spare part for our electric fire. It’s a clever fire, with a sort of water tank which sends up steam and a set of lights to make the steam and the artificial coal glow in appropriate colours. The clever bit makes things spin, making the steam look like smoke. They call it “optimist” and it is very effective. But some time in the middle of the pandemic the swirly bit stopped working. We sought advice online … to no avail. Finally this week I got onto the suppliers who gave me a number for the makers. Eventually I got the information I needed and we ordered the necessary spare part. Now we just need to fit it.

While Phil went back to wait for the deliveryman the rest of us continued to Diggle and then on the the duckpond where we had fish and chips al fresco.

Our visit was timely, as the chippy people are going on holiday for two weeks. Our plan to introduce our son and his family to Chippy Hikes when he comes to visit at the end of the month. So it goes.

We walked home and had coffee, biscuits, and ice lollies in the sunshine in the garden.

Not a bad day!

Life goes on. Stay safe and well, everyone!
