Happy Europe Day!
We don’t seem to be doing much about that.
Yesterday was National Help Out Day os something of the kind. The small royal people went and did various things. It crossed my mind that the security for that might have been costly. I also noticed that at one of the events they attended George and Louis got to drive a digger while Charlotte toasted marshmallows on the campfire. Feminists might have something to say about that!
Today began dull and damp but by midday it was fine and moderately sunny. I did a run round the village first things and later went off to Uppermill and Greenfield for odds ends.
I was on a mission to find ginseng which os good for a range of things. I tried three local chemists and the small Tesco. None of them stock it. Maybe the stall at Uppermill market that usually has a range of herbal remedies will have it. I’ll check tomorrow. If that’s no good we’ll have to order it online from Boots or Holland and Barrett.
I was also seeking screwdrivers of specific small sizes. The hardware shop was able to oblige. I really appreciate having a hardware shop in Uppermill. Mostly these days you have to make your DIY purchases at huge stores like B&Q, which is fine if you want to buy in bulk and know exactly what you are looking for. But if you only need three screws and maybe would like a bit of advice, you can’t beat a small local hardware shop!
We needed small screw drivers because we have been taking our vacuum cleaner to pieces. In recent months it has developed a decidedly nasty smell which we blame on the advent of the rescue dog at our daughter’s house. Said dog has been accompanying the family when they come to dinner on a Sunday. Grandson Number One likes to come along with the dog and take him for a walk before we eat. That is quite delightful but there is no denying that the dog smells! He also sheds hair like crazy. So we have a major vacuum session after each visit but it seems we replace dog smell with dirty vacuum cleaner smell.
So yesterday we googled smelly vacuum cleaners and watched youtube advice on how to clean your vacuum cleaner: - basically reduce it to its component part, clean each bit thoroughly and hope you can put it back together again. So we’ve now got fancy screwdrivers to reach the more inaccessible tiny screws and we’ll see where we get to. The vacuum cleaner is currently in bits in the spare bedroom! So it goes.
Life goes on. Stay safe and well, everyone!
