Today has been something of a washout. It has rained and rained and rained!
I was up early to take delivery of a small grandson. As a rule we go for a walk at some point on Thursday morning. Today there was no chance of that happening. My Fitbit will be disappointed in me!
Fortunately the small boy arrived equipped with a sort of magnetic construction kit to play with - lots of bits of plastic containing magnets so that they could be combined into different sorts of shapes and patterns. It quietly teaches quite a lot about how magnets work as well. This occupied him for most of the day on and off, with interludes for food and drink and a short session of watching informative cartoons about life under the sea!
The usual morning babysitting extended into most of the day as my daughter asked at some point if I minded hanging on to the little charmer for a bit longer while she went to collect his sister from school. This avoided having to have the three year-old stand around in the rain in the school playground waiting for the six year-old to be let out.
After a relatively calm day of constructive play, the arrival of big sister provoked a good half-hour session of silliness as he was so clearly delighted to see her. Ah! the joy of Thursday. As a matter of fact it is really nice that he settles down so happily but it usually means I ignore everything else going on in the world. In the eyes of the three year-old it is clear that my purpose is to play with him.
Outside in the wider world, the matter of who is to blame for what in the Ukraine - Russia conflict rumbles on. And we in the UK look set for higher taxes, rising living costs, ongoing energy problems and a generally bleak outlook for the coming months, unless you are already rich.
So it goes.
Life goes on. Stay safe and well, everyone!
