0n Sunday we spent some time hunting for somewhere to have lunch. Quite a lot of places were closed. Others were fully booked. We finally found a table at Karbon Kale, where we had “zamburiňas” - scallops - which we have not eaten for a long time. They were nicely done.
Their coffee cups were also rather pleasing.
Today we moved accommodation. The rather elegant flat we have loved in for the last week and a half was only booked until today and we were unable to extend it. So here we are in new, less grand accommodation, less conveniently situated. So it goes.
We lunched in the Italian restaurant which we found in the middle,of last week. Our suitcases parked alongside the table. Our friend Leon opted for octopus and found it to be very well done. Altogether very satisfying. If we return here we shall look up Casa Magnolia again. The Napolitana owner obligingly ordered a taxi for us.
I was reflecting on the universality of children’s games. The other day I watched three small boys racing round the Alameda de Colón, playing hide and seek in the time-honoured fashion. This was fine for the older two but the smaller of the three ended up being the seeker almost every time as he could not run as fast as the others and they always made it back to safety in plenty of time. At one point they all flopped to the ground, maybe to get their breath back. They started to play “piedra, papel, tijera” - rock, paper, scissors - just like kids in the UK. There you go!
In recent weeks I have commented on how early certain spring plants seem to have been coming into bloom this year. According to this article, scientists appear to agree with me. It seems that bluebells are flowering, swallows are returning and orange-tip butterflies are flying in what could become Britain’s earliest recorded spring. There you go.
Having said that, Granddaughters Number One and Number Two both complained over the weekend about Storm Dave and low temperatures in Greater Manchester.
And finally, here is a US and space mission related cartoon.
Life foes on. Stay safe and well, everyone!
